Jesus Heals

Jesus restored the sight of Bartimaeus who was blind from birth, and healed the woman who suffered from a blood condition for twelve years, and the man at the pool of Bethesda who had been paralysed for thirty-eight years, among many others (Mark 5:25–34; John 5:1–9, 9:1-7).

Even though Jesus is no longer on earth, there is power in His Name to heal any sickness. Apostle Peter healed the man at the Beautiful Gate who had been crippled from birth, in the name of Jesus (Acts 3:2–8).

In 1976, I was diagnosed with asthma as an adult, having no family history of the disease. Asthma is a chronic disease managed with medications because there is no known cure. I was placed on repeat prescriptions of inhalers and tablets and I remember being hospitalised on three occasions with acute asthmatic attacks. I was advised to avoid exposure to a list of allergens, which grew longer as the years went by.

When I got saved in 1985, I learnt that healing was my covenant right and that I could be healed through prayer (James 5:14–15). With faith in my heart, I began believing God for my healing. I prayed for my healing and requested prayer any time I attended a church service where sick people were being prayed for. Sometime in early 1992, I realised I had not used my inhaler or tablets for some time. Then, as the months passed by, I noticed I still did not need them. It was then I realised I had been healed of asthma by faith through prayer. Today, thirty-two years later, I have no need of inhalers or tablets, and I have no difficulty in breathing or any asthmatic attack, to the praise and glory of God! I have maintained my faith by; giving thanks to God for my healing, testifying of His healing power, making mention of it in my prayer and anytime I am sick or when I am praying for someone.

Sometimes, we may not be healed, and sometimes the sickness may result in our demise. I do not know the reason why this happens, but I do my part, which is to pray in faith, and I leave God to do His part, which is to answer our prayers according to His will.

Today, if you are in need of physical healing, note that Jesus has already made provision for your healing (Isaiah 53:5). Pray with faith for your healing, and believe that you are going to be healed.
